A Nourishing Natural Recipe with Shea Butter and Skin-Loving Oils
When we focus on keto, we often think about food first, but what we put on our skin matters just as much as what we eat. Many commercial skincare products are loaded with preservatives, synthetic chemicals, and hormone disruptors.
That’s why I keep my skincare routine simple, clean, and natural—just like my meals. One of my favorite staples is a gentle cold cream cleanser made from shea butter and organic cold-processed oils. It removes makeup and impurities, moisturizes deeply, and supports healthier, glowing skin—without beeswax, fillers, or toxins.
Why Natural Fats Belong in Skincare
The same fats that support your keto lifestyle from within can do wonders externally too. Oils like jojoba, rosehip, and castor are rich in:
Essential fatty acids – to restore and protect the skin barrier
Vitamins A, E, and antioxidants – to combat aging and dullness
Anti-inflammatory properties – to calm irritated or sensitive skin
Deep moisture – without clogging pores
These oils blend beautifully with unrefined shea butter, which helps to heal dryness, smooth the texture, and keep your skin soft and supple.
Cold Cream Cleanser Recipe
This rich yet breathable cleanser melts into the skin to gently lift away dirt and makeup, without leaving a heavy residue. It's especially great for dry, sensitive, or aging skin.
Ingredients:
2 tbsp unrefined shea butter
2 tbsp cold-pressed jojoba oil
1 tbsp rosehip seed oil
1 tbsp castor oil
3–5 drops lavender or frankincense essential oil (optional)
Instructions:
Gently melt the shea butter in a glass bowl over a double boiler.
Remove from heat and stir in jojoba, rosehip, and castor oils.
Let cool slightly and add essential oils if using.
Pour the mixture into a clean 2-oz glass jar and allow it to set at room temperature.
Store in a cool, dry place and use within 2–3 months.
How to Use It:
Scoop a small amount with clean fingers and warm it between your hands.
Gently massage onto a dry face for 30–60 seconds.
Wipe away with a warm, damp cloth.
Pat skin dry, then follow with your preferred natural moisturizer if needed.
Simple, Clean Skincare that Supports Your Keto Lifestyle
If you're avoiding dairy, sugar, and processed ingredients to improve your health, it makes sense to treat your skin with that same level of care. This cold cream is a beautiful way to nourish your face without chemicals, just like you nourish your body with whole foods.
It’s gentle enough to use every evening and can be customized with your favorite skin-supportive oils or essential oils.
